A Young Serviceman's Impressions of 1952 Korea

Dad left the Merchant Marines in May of 1950 and joined the United States Army on 8 March 1951.  If I read his papers right, he started out at Fort Bliss, Texas.  The earliest documentation for him in South Korea, that I have, is February 1952 at Sokcho-si and he is a night mechanic with his company.

This is the photo album cover for the following pictures.  I have no knowledge of him being in China but, knowing that he traveled to many foreign locations, it wouldn't surprise me.

Some of the photos have names written on the reverse sides.  The pictures are very small and tightly affixed to the pages.  I worried that I would damage the photos and did not take each one out to read the backs.
Dad on left in front

Dad is second from left and in a squat position

Dad on right

Looks like dad in the driver's position of the first vehicle.

Could be dad looking into the cab of the vehicle.

Dad standing in back on right

Likely dad walking into picture on right.

I searched for this hotel online.  There are many hits for a New Kokura or Kokura in Japan but I didn't find an exact location for this hotel.
