Dorothy Stevens Decker Ganson

Born 12 November 1889 at Kingston, Ulster County, New York
Died 28 October 1961 at Buffalo, Erie County, New York

Dorothy was the first of two children born to William More Decker and Margaret Elizabeth “Bessie” Smith Decker. The family relocated to Buffalo in 1897 where her father was first a physician and later the owner of Hygeia Nursing Bottle Company. Dorothy graduated from Buffalo Seminary in 1908 and, in October of the same year, enrolled at National Park Seminary at Forest Glen, Maryland. Dorothy was married (?) first about 1911 to a Mr. Trantman (or Trautman). The marriage ended before 1915. Dorothy and Mr. Trantman were the parents of one child, Margaret Elizabeth Trantman (later Ganson). Dorothy married next to Howard Hutchinson Ganson on 14 February 1921 at Buffalo. They made their home at Buffalo, first at 897 Delaware Avenue and later at 90 Bryant Street. Dorothy was the treasurer of Hygeia Nursing Bottle Company and her husband was the secretary and later a vice-president of the same company. In 1945, they purchased a home at Wanakah, New York. Wanakah is a hamlet in the town of Hamburg and a part of the Buffalo-Niagara Metropolitan area. Her husband died in 1949 and Dorothy’s last known residence was at 13 Mayfair Lane at Buffalo. Dorothy and Howard were the parents of four children; Howard Hutchinson Ganson Jr., Allison Bathgate Ganson, Dorette Stevens Ganson, and Audrey Decker Ganson. Dorothy is buried next to her husband in a Ganson family plot in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Buffalo. She is John More Association Jonas line cousin #44131 and my third cousin twice removed.
