Charles Elbert “Chuck” Rose


Born 6 July 1928 at Oneonta, Otsego County, New York
Died 12 February 2017 at Tucson, Pima County, Arizona

Chuck was the second of five children born to Clifton More Rose and Lena Mae Carrington Rose. He was raised at Oneonta and Gilboa where his father was a dairy farmer. He graduated from Oneonta High School in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1946. In 1949, he entered Saint Lawrence University at Canton, New York while also working as a Research Engineer with Bendix Aviation Corporation with high altitude jet engine ignition systems. Upon graduation from Saint Lawrence in 1954 with a Bachelor's degree in physics, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Chuck married on 9 April 1954 at Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Chuck and his wife made their first home at Augsburg, Germany and were the parents of two daughters, both born at Stuttgart, Germany. In 1961, he received a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University. In 1966, he was promoted to Major and served in Vietnam at Cu Chi and, in 1969, was promoted to Colonel. Sometime during the 1970s, he and his wife resided near Quebec, Canada. Later they resided at Las Cruces, New Mexico before relocating permanently to Tucson in 2014. Chuck is John More Association Jonas line cousin #426242. He is my first cousin, once removed.

Kathryn Lura Perkins Seacord


Born 9 August 1917 at El Paso, El Paso County, Texas
Died 20 July 2017 at El Cajon, San Diego County, California

Kathryn was the second of three children born to Clifford Alan Perkins and Gladys Gay Gillis Perkins. She was raised at El Paso, Texas and Chula Vista, California where her father was a United States government Immigration Inspector and later an immigration office manager. Her mother died when she was three years old and she was raised by her father’s second wife, Ruth A. Moreton Perkins. Kathryn married to widow Wilson Ralph Seacord on 30 May 1941 at Chula Vista, California. They made their home first at Needles, California where her husband was a high school coach and shop teacher. They relocated to Naval Air Station North Island at Coronado, California about 1942 where her husband was a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserves. Soon thereafter, they relocated to Chula Vista, second largest city in the San Diego metropolitan area, where her husband was a manager at Magneto Sales and Service Company. Her husband died in 1977 and Kathryn married next to Frederick Robert Oberschulte, Jr. on 28 September 1985. They made their home at 168 2nd Avenue at Chula Vista. Kathryn and Wilson were the parents of three children, two daughters and one son. Kathryn and Frederick had no children. Kathryn's cremains were scattered at sea as was Wilson's. She is John More Association Edward line cousin #M85843 and the wife of my fourth cousin, twice removed.

John Frederick Kuhlmann, Jr.


Born 3 January 1869 at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York
Died 11 June 1941 at Newark Valley, Tioga County, New York

John, later commonly known as J. Frederick Kuhlmann, was the son of German immigrants, John Frederick Kuhlmann and Katrina (Katherine) Heil Kuhlmann. He was raised at Brooklyn where his father was a cobbler. He married to Elizabeth Benham on 27 September 1905 at Newark Valley. They made their home first on Yale Street at Gloversville, New York where they were both employed as glove silkers. About 1911, John was employed by City Laundry. About 1915, he and his wife relocated to Prattsville, New York where he was first a poulterer and later a creamery merchant and then a creamery machinist. His wife died in 1935 and he relocated permanently, perhaps to Gloversville or Johnstown. He died quite suddenly while riding in a car driven by a nephew. John and Elizabeth had no children. John was buried with his wife at Ferndale Cemetery. He is John More Association John line cousin #M1521 and was the husband of my third cousin, three times removed.
