David Fellows More

Born 18 November 1795 at Stamford, Delaware County, New York
Died 21 October 1869 at Prattsville, Greene County, New York

David was the first of nine children born to Robert More and Susannah Fellows More. He was raised on his father’s farm about three miles from Moresville, New York (now known as Grand Gorge, New York). In 1831, his father gave him a tract of this land which he successfully improved. David married first to Maria Laraway, date and place unknown. She died in 1845. David and Maria had no children. David married next to Nancy Stratton on 22 December 1846, place unknown. They made their home at Prattsville where David had purchased a fine, new farm. In his later years, the family relocated permanently into the Village of Prattsville where he had purchased a home to live out his life in comfort. David and Nancy were the parents of one child, Maria Frances More. He was remembered for his funny stories and hearty cheer. He was an honored member of the Masonic fraternity and, although not a member, he attended the Reformed Church of Prattsville with his wife and daughter who were members of that church. David was buried at Upper Cemetery at Prattsville. He is John More Association Robert Line cousin #21 and my first cousin, five times removed.

*Note-there are two John More Association cousins by the name David Fellows More. This biography is about #21. The same-named cousin is #246, the son of Alexander More and Sara Church More.
