Mary was the
second of three children born to John Jewell Van Vliet and Adelaide De Kay Grier Van Vliet. She was raised at Goshen where her father
was the proprietor of a home furnishings store. Mary married to Robert Bruce
Smith, Junior on 23 October 1938 at Goshen. They made their home at Catskill
where her husband was a retail grocery clerk. I found no information about the
family after 1940. Her husband died at Hudson, New York in 1973. Mary's last known residence was at Catskill. She was buried at Town of Catskill Cemetery. Mary and Robert were the parents of two children, both
daughters. Mary is John More Association Jean Line cousin #M5.10.181 and was the wife of my fourth cousin, twice removed.
