John, later
commonly known as J. Frederick Kuhlmann, was the son of German immigrants, John
Frederick Kuhlmann and Katrina (Katherine) Heil Kuhlmann. He
was raised at Brooklyn where his father was a cobbler. He married to Elizabeth
Benham on 27 September 1905 at Newark Valley. They made their home first on
Yale Street at Gloversville, New York where they were both employed as glove
silkers. About 1911, John was employed by City Laundry. About 1915, he and his
wife relocated to Prattsville, New York where he was first a poulterer and
later a creamery merchant and then a creamery machinist. His wife died in 1935
and he relocated permanently, perhaps to Gloversville or Johnstown. He died
quite suddenly while riding in a car driven by a nephew. John and Elizabeth had
no children. John was buried with his wife at Ferndale Cemetery. He is John
More Association John line cousin #M1521 and was the husband of my third
cousin, three times removed.
