Some spelling and some grammar may be changed as I transcribe. The location is Albany, New York.
My grandmother, 'Olive' Letha Rose Schnack wrote this letter to her 'Pop', Elbert Rose. 'Clif' was her brother, Clifton More Rose. 'Lena' was his wife and 'Charlotte' is their daughter.

The photograph of Emilee and my grandmother is undated. I believe it was made about 1922-1924. My grandmother has written the identities on the reverse side. The original photographer is not known.

Dearest Pop,
I arrived in Albany all O.K. Sunday night and only a little the worse for wear. Of course, the train was crowded and late.
Emilee Smith came Monday afternoon. She goes to school with me a little and the rest of the time reads and rests. Tuesday afternoon, I took her to the Educational Building in the museum. Tell Clif and Lena they have a new exhibit there now. It
consists of snakes: Rattlers and Copperheads.
This morning Julia, Emilee and I went to Trinity M.E. Church and heard a wonderful sermon.
Could you send me $5 real soon? The three that you gave me over my fare is gone. I bought a pair of stockings, some buttons and lace, and went to the movies once. Besides, I have had to have another book, $1.50. I have to get some Christmas
cards and some presents for the girls. If you send the $5, I will use $3 of it for carfare coming home in less than two weeks. Now please don't delay in sending it as I haven't a single cent to my name.
How is Charlotte? I suppose she will be creeping by the time I get there.
Now please write. Oh yes, I have to have another pair of stockings. The ones I got are ruined. I stuck my finger right through one of them.
Write
Lots of love,
Olive
