Born 21 June
1869 at Windham, Greene County, New York
Died 17
April 1929 at Stamford, Delaware County, New York
Archibald
was the younger of two children born to Charles Kendall and Sarah Elspeth Gilbert Kendall. His father, a Presbyterian clergyman, died
in 1873 when Archibald was only three years of age. His mother then relocated the
family to Stamford where he was raised with his brother and a step-sister by
his father’s previous marriage. Archibald married to widow Julia Edith Roberts Finch on 8
September 1892 at Essex County, New Jersey. They made their home at New York
City where their only child, Esther Falconer Kendall, was born. Julia died in 1894 and he relocated with his
young daughter to Stamford where they resided in the household of his brother,
George William Kendall. Archibald was a traveling salesman during this time. In
1910, he resided at Maplewood, Missouri where he was a packing house
bookkeeper. He married next to Jennie Grace Wheeler on 17 September 1913 at
Weehawken, New Jersey. Archibald and Jennie had no children. They made their
home first at Hutchinson, Kansas where he was a manager. They relocated to
Mason City, Iowa about 1920 where he was a chief clerk with Jacob E. Decker and
Sons. They resided at that place until at least 1927. John More Association
family records indicate that he died at Stamford in 1929 so they must have
returned to that place near the end of his life. Archibald is buried at
Stamford Cemetery where his wife would join him in 1949. His daughter, Esther, who
married last to William Mayham Warren, was also buried, in 1960, at Stamford Cemetery. Archibald
was the husband of my third cousin three times removed.
