Carrie Russell More



Born 11 January 1872 at Glenwood, Mills County, Iowa
Died 19 May 1952 at Tucson, Pima County, Arizona

Carrie was the daughter of Henry Augustus Russell and Alice Mary Pinkley Russell. She was raised at Hastings where her father was first a saloon clerk and later a carpenter. Carrie married first to William O. Russell in 1892. Carrie and William later divorced and were the parents of one child, Boyd Russell. Carrie was well known in Mills County as she authored many articles frequently submitted to local newspapers. Carrie married next to Byron Sylvester More on 18 March 1903 at the home of her parents at Hastings. Carrie and Byron had no children. They made their home at 1663 East Court Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa where her husband was a laborer and where Carrie was an art teacher. Her husband retired about 1940 from Fort Dodge, Des Moines & Southern Rail Road. They relocated permanently to 3275 East Shawnee Avenue at Tucson about 1947. Carrie died at her home due to an acute hemorrhage of a duodenal ulcer. Her husband died just six months later. They are buried at Evergreen Cemetery at Tucson. Carrie was John More Association David line cousin #M7531 and the wife of my third cousin three times removed.
