Paul Wayne Brandenburg

Born 7 May 1927 at Springfield, Baca County, Colorado
Died 15 July 2016 at Burlington, Kit Carson County, Colorado

Paul was the first of four children, all sons, born to Artimus Ward Brandenburg and Inez M. Robbins Brandenburg. He was raised at Springfield where his father was first a plant laborer and later a janitor and orderly at Baca County Nursing Home which was a home care facility managed by Paul’s mother. Paul attended the public schools of Springfield and, in high school, played on the football and basketball teams. He worked on farms in Baca County as a young man and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict. Paul married first to Betty Jo Cochran in 1947 and the marriage ended in divorce. Paul and Betty were the parents of one child, a son. Paul relocated to Pueblo, Colorado about 1952 where he was a crane operator for Colorado Fuel and Iron. Paul married next to Marian Irene Cronic on 14 March 1953 at Alamosa, Colorado. They made their home first at Pueblo and Paul assumed responsibility for Marian’s two children from previous marriages. Paul and Marian were the parents of one child, Ellen Kay Brandenburg, who was born prematurely and died shortly after birth. About 1965, Paul relocated his family to Longmont, Colorado where he was a plant production manager with IBM until his retirement in 1987. He and his wife spent the next ten years traveling in a 5th-wheel travel trailer all over the Western United States. About 1997, he and his wife settled on County Road 292 at Nathrop, Colorado. About 2010, and their health declining, they sold their property and relocated to Burlington to be nearer his step-daughter. Paul died at his home as a result of emphysema and was buried at SpringfieldCemetery where his parents and brothers were also buried. He was the third and last husband of John More Association Edward line cousin #85761.
*Note-Paul’s mother’s maiden name was also found spelled Robins in some records.
