Marjorie Gould Drexel Danielson

Born 8 October 1916 at Lakewood, Ocean County, New Jersey
Died 5 August 1947 at Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida

Marjorie was the youngest of three children born to Anthony Joseph Drexel, Junior and Marjorie Gwynne Gould Drexel. She was raised at Lakewood where her father was a prominent capitalist. The family also had a home at Caprice, a community in Cable Beach, near Nassau, Bahamas. Marjorie married to Cleveland, Ohio businessman John Murton Gundry, Junior on 20 February 1935 at Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas. Marjorie and John were the parents of one child, a son. The marriage ended in divorce in 1945 and Marjorie married next to Axel Julius Danielson, with whom she had a lengthy affair, in August 1946 at Broward County, Florida. Marjorie and Axel had no children. Marjorie died a year after her second marriage. She was buried at Woodlawn Park North Cemetery and Mausoleum in Miami. Marjorie was my fifth cousin once removed.
*Note-newspapers ‘of the day’ reported that Marjorie’s only child was fathered by Mr. Danielson; a claim that was neither confirmed nor denied. John More Association records indicate that Mr. Gundry was the father.
