Milton Frank Northrup

Born 4 August 1931 at De Lancey, Delaware County, New York
Died 22 March 2012 at Sidney, Delaware County, New York

Milton was the second of six children born to Frank Abel Northrup and Florence Emma Jacobson Northrup. He was raised at Colchester where his father was the owner and operator of a farm. The family relocated to Walton, New York in 1942. Milton enlisted in the New York National Guard’s Company F, 108th Infantry Battalion on 25 April 1949. He was promoted to Master Sergeant in 1958 and was discharged from service on 24 April 1960. Milton married on 30 September 1956 at Davenport, New York. He and his wife made their home first at Bainbridge, New York and were the parents of two children; a daughter and a son. In 1974, he established Northrup Chevrolet-Oldsmobile at 195 Delaware Street in Walton, New York. In 1979, he established Northrup Electric at 192 Delaware Street in Walton which was dissolved on 29 December 1982. His last endeavor was as a contract postal carrier at his hometown of Sidney. Milton died at his home and was buried at Walton Cemetery. He was my fourth cousin once removed.
*Note-Milton provided De Lancey as his birth place when he enlisted in the New York National Guard. John More Association records indicate he was born at Colchester, New York. De Lancey residents were apparently enumerated as Colchester residents.
