Elizabeth D. Shutts MacPherson

Born 11 March 1873 at Stamford, Delaware County, New York
Died 22 September 1956 at Stamford, Delaware County, New York

Elizabeth was the second of six children born to Charles Mallory Shutts and Jennette E. McKenzie Shutts. Her family resided at Roxbury, New York in 1880 where her father was a laborer. They returned to Stamford about 1892 where her father was a farmer. Elizabeth married to Donald MacPherson on 29 January 1902 at Stamford. They made their home at that place on Liberty Street where her husband was first a house carpenter and later a water department superintendent; and for a time, he was Supervisor of the Town of Stamford. Elizabeth and Donald were the parents of one child, Malcolm MacPherson. Elizabeth was active in her community for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church; Adult Fellowship Society; Women’s Missionary Society; Utsayantha Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; and Women’s Club of Stamford. She was a charter member and registrar of Abigail Harper Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Elizabeth died at Bathgate Hospital at Stamford about three weeks after suffering a heart attack. She is buried next to her husband at Stamford Cemetery. Elizabeth was my second cousin twice removed.
