Everett Hodge Doig

Born 7 January 1899 at Mundale, Delaware County, New York
Died 15 December 1973 at Walton, Delaware County, New York

Everett was the son of John Hugh Doig and Susan J. “Susie” Hodge Doig. He was raised at Mundale, a community in Hamden, New York where his father was the owner and operator of a general farm. The family relocated to East Brook Road at Walton about 1915 where his father was the owner and operator of a dairy farm. Everett married first to Gertrude E. Pierce on 7 June 1927 at Walton. They made their home on the family farm where he became the owner and operator of his father’s dairy farm. His mother had died in 1925 but his widowed father continued his residence there, presumably until his death. Everett and Gertrude were the parents of three children; Evangeline Doig, Beverly J. Doig, and Joyce Doig. Beverly is their only child to live to maturity; their other two daughters died in early infancy. Gertrude died in 1940 and Everett married next to Mary Elizabeth More on 15 August 1941 at Rochester, New York. Everett and Mary had no children. They made their home at the East Brook Road farm and, after Everett suffered a heart attack in 1970, they relocated to Townsend Street in the town of Walton. He was an active member of the Eastern Milk Producers Co-op and for many years was associated with the Walton Co-Op Fire Insurance Company. He was a committeeman with the Farmers Home Administration and with the Delaware County Agricultural Conservation Program. Everett was buried at Walton Cemetery in a Doig family plot. He was the husband of my third cousin three times removed, Mary.
