Eugene was
the son of German immigrant parents, Maximilion Steinbacher and Marie K. Schumm
Steinbacher. He was raised at Sidney where his father was the owner and
operator of a dairy farm. Eugene married to Betty Jane Travis on 17 December
1949 at Walton, New York. They made their home at Sidney Center. Eugene was
employed by Del-Met Corporation at Walton as a tool and die maker. Upon
retirement in 1997, he relocated to Columbia, Kentucky. When his health failed,
he returned to the family farm and the home of one of his daughters, where he
died. Eugene and Betty were the parents of four children, two daughters and two
sons. The marriage later ended in divorce and Eugene married again. He was a
member of Vets Club at Walton and Brethren in Christ Church at Columbia. Eugene
was buried at Walton Cemetery at Walton. He was John More Association Jean Line
cousin #M552614.
