Pauline Gertrude Alverson Travis

Born 6 September 1911 at Rock Rift, Delaware County, New York
Died 20 December 1987 at Unadilla, Otsego County, New York

Pauline was the daughter of Seymour J. Alverson and Olodyne M. Jaycox Alverson. She was raised at Rock Rift where her father was a laborer. The family relocated to East Brook Road at Walton, New York about 1920 where her father was the owner and operator of a produce farm. They relocated again about 1925 to Tripp Road at Walton where her father was a teamster and her two eldest sisters were school teachers. Pauline was 15-years old when she married to George Amasa Travis on 15 July 1927 at Walton. He was a creamery man at that place when they married. Pauline and George made their home first on Third Brook Road at Walton where George was a farm laborer. The family relocated to 16 High Street at Walton about 1940 where George was a woodwork factory laborer. They relocated again by 1952 to Franklin Depot, New York. About 1972, they relocated permanently to 7 Siber Street at Unadilla, New York when her husband retired from Bendix Corporation at Sidney, New York. Pauline was buried next to her husband at Walton Cemetery. She was John More Association Jean Line cousin #M55261 and the wife of my fourth cousin twice removed. George and Pauline were the parents of four children; three daughters including Betty Jane Travis and one son.
*Note-Rock Rift was one of five towns sacrificed in 1966 to create the Cannonsville Reservoir to provide water to New York City.
