Jason was
the eighth of thirteen children born to David More and Elizabeth Gould More. He was raised at Roxbury where his father was a
prominent farmer. Jason’s father relocated the family to Walton about 1839
where he had purchased 196 acres situated on the Delaware River. About 1843,
Jason relocated to Michigan where he was a farmer and lumberman. When his
health failed about 1850, he returned to the old homestead at Walton. Jason
never married. He was buried in a More family plot at Walton Cemetery between his brother, Burr More, and the young daughter of his sister, Anna More Sinclair, Adelia Sinclair. Jason was
my first cousin five times removed.
*Of special interest - Jason's brother, Andrew More, and Andrew's second wife, Sarah A. Silliman More, named their first child Jason Gould More.
*Of special interest - a newspaper article indicates that Jason's father used a portion of his land to be laid out as a cemetery. Jason was the first to be buried at this place that would become Walton Cemetery. (This special interest note added on 12 December 2016.)
