Anna More Sinclair More

Born 4 March 1814 at Roxbury, Delaware County, New York
Died 29 December 1899 at Walton, Delaware County, New York

Undated photo published in a 1900 issue of The Historical Journal of the More Family.

Anna was the fourth of thirteen children born to David More and Elizabeth Gould More. Anna was raised at Roxbury where her father was the owner and operator of a successful farm. Anna married to Hector Sinclair on 26 February 1835 at Roxbury. Hector was the son of Scottish immigrants, Duncan Sinclair and Margaret Elizabeth McPherson Sinclair. Anna and Hector made their home at Stamford, New York. They were the parents of five children; Isabella Sinclair, Elizabeth Sinclair, Harriet Sinclair, Adelia Sinclair, and Hector H. Sinclair. Anna’s husband died in 1846 and she relocated the family to Walton where they resided with her parents and brothers. She married next to her widowed cousin, Jesse Benjamin More, on 15 August 1877 at Mina, New York and relocated to his home at that place. Jesse was the son of James More and Roxanna Benjamin More. Anna and Jesse had no children. Jesse died in 1883 and Anna returned to Walton to reside in the home of her daughter, Harriet, who had married to George William Fitch. Anna enjoyed good health and lived an active life. Even in old age, she retained her keen interest in everything about her. Three months before her death, she suffered a fall from which she never walked again. Anna was buried in a More family plot at Walton Cemetery. She was my first cousin five times removed.

Grave photos obtained myself on 10 August 2015.
