Harriet Sinclair Fitch

Born 27 December 1839 at Stamford, Delaware County, New York
Died 19 June 1928 at Kingston, Ulster County, New York

Harriet was the third of five children born to Hector Sinclair and Anna More Sinclair. Her father died in 1846 when she was six-years of age and her mother relocated the family to Walton, New York. She was raised at that place in the homes of her maternal grandparents, David More and Elizabeth Gould More and her maternal uncles, William More and Andrew More. Harriet married to George William Fitch on 30 May 1861 at Walton. He was a prominent merchant at that place. Harriet and George were the parents of five children; Maria More Fitch, Edward Fitch, George Sinclair Fitch, Roderick Fitch, and Anna Sinclair Fitch. After Harriet’s husband died in 1899, she resided for a time with her son, George, and his family at Walton and, about 1910, she moved into the Walton household of her daughter, Anna, who had married to William Johnston Cranston. She relocated to Kingston with Anna and William about 1920 and resided with them until her death. Harriet was buried next to her husband in a Fitch family plot at Walton Cemetery. She was my second cousin four times removed.
