Died 23 July 1916 at Roxbury, Delaware County, New York
Carrie was the daughter of Samuel Hoyt Stevens and his second wife, Mary Jane Foote Stevens. She was raised at Harpersfield, New York where her father was the owner and operator of a farm. After her father died in 1885, Carrie and her mother and four siblings; Grace, Edward, George, and Samuel; relocated to Stamford, New York where they were living in 1892. Carrie married to Bruce Smith Preston on 29 March 1893 at Davenport. They made their home on Locust Street at Roxbury where her husband was engaged primarily as a carpenter. Carrie and Bruce were the parents of four children; Angie Preston, Grace Stevens Preston, Kenneth Bruce Preston, and Otis Samuel Preston. Carrie is buried with her husband at United Methodist Church Cemetery at Roxbury. The graves of their daughter, Grace, and their son and daughter-in-law, Otis and Margaret, are on either side.
