Margaret Morrison Ballard Preston

Born 13 June 1901 at Fleischmanns, Delaware County, New York
Died 11 June 1976 at Charlotte County, Florida

Margaret was the daughter of Wilfred Dewitt Ballard and Mina Todd Ballard. Her family relocated to Halcott, New York about 1905 where her father was a farmer. The family relocated permanently to Walton, New York about 1910 where her father was the owner and operator of a dairy farm. Margaret was a graduate of Oneonta Normal School at Oneonta, New York and of Perry Business School at Brunswick, Georgia. Margaret was a school teacher when she married to Adolph Harry Loren on 25 August 1922 at Margaretville, New York. They made their home at Walton where her husband was a chef. This marriage ended in divorce on 11 January 1930. Margaret and Harry had no children. Margaret was a secretary to O. J. Griffin at Roxbury, New York when she married next to Otis Samuel Preston on 31 March 1933 at Montrose, Pennsylvania. Otis was a mason at Roxbury. They made their home at Altamont, New York where her husband was employed by General Electric at Schenectady, New York. They relocated to Walton about 1940 where her husband worked odd jobs for a woodworking manufacturer. After her husband’s death at Altamont in 1969, Margaret relocated to Valrico, Florida, presumably to be nearer her daughter, Judith. Margaret and Otis were the parents of two children, Marijean Preston and Judith Preston. Margaret is buried with her husband, Otis, at United Methodist Church Cemetery at Roxbury, New York.

Photographed myself on 8 August 2015.
