Rosa Louisa Adrian DeVany

Born 25 June 1866 at Pittston, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania
Died 29 December 1944 at Los Angeles County, California

Rosa was only one-year of age when her father died in 1867 as a result of a coal mine accident at Pittston. She was the daughter of Christian Adrian and Margaret Broll Adrian. Her mother married again and Rosa's step-father, Randolph/Rudolph Good, assumed responsibility for raising her. Her mother was widowed in 1880 when they resided at Hughestown, Pennsylvania where her brothers were mine drivers. Rosa married to Thomas Allen about 1890. They made their home at Silverton, Colorado where her husband was a saloon keeper. Rosa and Thomas were the parents of four children; Robert Allen, and three others born after 1900 but died before 1910. Rosa was a widow and a resident of Telluride, Colorado when she married to David Smith More, Junior on 6 April 1910 at Vancouver, British Columbia. At the time of their marriage, her husband was a railway conductor residing at Seattle, Washington. They made their home at Long Beach, California where her husband was a general manager of a railroad and where Rosa was a chiropractor. Rosa and David had no children. David died in 1933 and Rosa married last to Carl Allison DeVany sometime before 1935. He was a steam railway mail clerk and they made their home at Rosa’s Long Beach home. Rosa’s cremains were interred on 9 January 1945 in the Good family plot at Fairview Cemetery at Salida, Colorado. Cemetery records list her as Rose L. Moore Devany. Her mother has a grave marker; Rosa does not. Rosa was the wife of my 2nd cousin 4x removed, David More.
