William Maurice Clarke

Born 6 August 1872 at South Gilboa, Schoharie County, New York
Died 15 August 1923 at Stamford, Delaware County, New York

William was the third of five children born to John H. Clark and Mary Gould More Clark. His mother died in 1880 when he was seven-years of age. His father married again about 1882 and it was his step-mother, Ellura Garrett Clark, who assumed the role of mother to William and his siblings. Ellura and John would have eight children of their own during their marriage. William was raised at South Gilboa where his father was the owner and operator of a farm. William married to Jennie Louise McKillip on 8 December 1897 at South Gilboa. They made their home first at Stamford where their daughter was born but, in 1905, they resided at Gilboa where he was a creamery laborer. The family relocated to Roxbury, New York about 1910 where he was the owner and operator of a dairy farm. William and Jennie were the parents of one child, Marian Agnes Clarke. William died at Stamford Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident just east of Stamford. William is buried at Stamford Cemetery at Stamford. His wife, who died in 1962, is buried next to him. His brother, Joseph Alfred Clarke, is buried nearby.
