Anna Hanford Kentfield

Born 25 October 1860 at Walton, Delaware County, New York
Died 2 September 1899 at Morrison, Whiteside County, Illinois

Anna was the only child of William Sheldon Hanford and Elizabeth Sinclair Hanford. Anna was raised at Walton where her father was a merchant. Her parents died when she was five years of age; her mother as a result of quick consumption which was a quick form of tuberculosis and her father, presumably the same. She was then raised by an uncle, George M. Hanford, at Walton where he was the owner and operator of a farm. In 1880, her health was fragile and she was considered an invalid. Anna married to George Horace Kentfield on 18 September 1890, presumably at Walton. She relocated to Morrison in 1892 where her husband was a drug store clerk and where their only child, Martha Elizabeth Kentfield, was born. Anna succumbed to a lingering disease, presumably tuberculosis, in 1899 and her remains were transported back to her childhood home at Walton. She was buried next to her parents in a Hanford family plot at Walton Cemetery. She was my third cousin three times removed.
