Born 23 May
1832 at Colchester, Delaware County, New York
Died 25
April 1866 at Walton, Delaware County, New York
William was
the son of Connecticut native, Walter Hanford, and Sarah Hanford. He was raised
at Walton where his father was a farmer. His mother died when he was nine-years
old and he was raised to maturity by his father. William married to Elizabeth Sinclair on
11 October 1859 presumably at Walton. They made their home at Walton where he
was first a farmer. About 1863, still residing at Walton, he became a merchant.
His wife died in 1865 and William died just five months later; their only
child, Anna Hanford, becoming an orphan at the age five. William was buried
with his wife at Walton Cemetery and their daughter was buried with them when
she died in 1899. William was the husband of my second cousin four times
removed.
