Rudolph “Rudy” Leigh, Junior

Born 30 July 1930 at Walton, Delaware County, New York
Died 16 November 2008 at Walton, Delaware County, New York

Rudy was the son of Dutch immigrant, Rudolph Leigh, and New York native, Jessie W. Northrup Leigh. He was raised at Walton where his father was the owner and operator of a general farm. He joined the United States Navy in 1948 and was honorably discharged in 1955. In 1958, he attended the Police academy and was assigned to the Beerston Precinct, New York City Board of Water Supply Police, now known as New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Police. He retired in 1985. He was a man of many interests including photography, hunting, fishing, golf, archery, radio-controlled model airplanes, and playing guitar. He raised show ponies and, in later years, was a fan of horse racing. Rudy married to Irma Bernice Smith on 27 August 1950 at Walton. Rudy and Irma were the parents of four children; all daughters. He died peacefully at his home and was buried at Walton Cemetery. Rudy was the husband of my fifth cousin once removed.
