Frederick Emerson “Fred” Kite

Born 20 August 1925 at New Paltz, Ulster County, New York
Died 10 August 1989 at Walton, Delaware County, New York

Fred was the son of Don Raymond Kite and Anna Elizabeth Fisher Kite. He was raised first at New Paltz where his father was a Rural Free Delivery mail carrier. In 1940, he resided with his maternal grandmother, Eliza Fisher, at Kent, New York. She was the owner and operator of a farm at that place. Fred served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was a resident of Andes, New York when he married to Marjorie Claudia Schloss on 16 September 1950 at Walton. She was more commonly known as Marge. They made their home at that place where he was a fireman. In 1950, he was chosen to play outfield for the Delaware-Sullivan All Star Team. He served as secretary, in 1963, of Walton’s Fire Company 3, Fancher Hook and Ladder Company; and, in 1968, he served on their membership committee. Fred was also one of two directors of Round-Up Ranch Golf Club at Downsville, New York. Fred and Marge were the parents of two children, a daughter and a son. Fred was buried at Walton Cemetery. He was the husband of my fifth cousin once removed.
