Edwin Guild

Born 6 September 1822 at Walton, Delaware County, New York
Died 30 June 1884 at Black Lake, Sullivan County, New York

Edwin was the sixth of eight children born to Everett Guild and Hannah Perkins Guild. Edwin married to Harriet More on 17 May 1849 at Walton. They made their home at Walton where he was first a harness maker. About 1865, he partnered with John W. Alexander and they operated an extensive mercantile on Delaware Street at Walton known as Guild & Alexander. Edwin died of a heart attack at Black Lake where he had traveled to with C. McAllister on a fishing excursion. He was remembered as a quiet, upright man whose judgement could be relied upon. Edwin and Harriet were the parents of three children; William Guild, Frank Spencer Guild, and Charles Truman Guild. Edwin was buried in a Guild family plot at Walton Cemetery. He was the husband of my first cousin five times removed.
