Died 8 December 2006 at Apalachin, Tioga County, New York

Reta was the fourth of six children born to Harold Amasa Smith and Hazel Leona Sutton Smith. She was the younger twin to her sister, Reva Leah Smith. Reta was raised on High Street at Walton where her father was an automobile mechanic. Reta was a graduate of Walton High School and a graduate of Pratt Institute's School of Art at New York City. She was employed by Army Map Service at Washington, District of Columbia when she married to Andrew Ernest Krause on 9 May 1953 at the United Presbyterian Church at Walton. They made their home first at Long Island City, New York and, about 1961, they resided at Bronx, New York. They relocated permanently to Apalachin about 1970. She was a talented artist. Several of her pen and ink drawings were featured on bulletin covers at United Presbyterian Church. She died peacefully at her home in the care of Lourdes Hospice. Reta and Andrew were the parents of three children, two sons and one daughter. She was buried next to her husband at Walton Cemetery. She was my fifth cousin once removed.
